From Telouet To Tassaout

  • Dune Bashing in Morocco Desert


Hiking in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains take the mule tracks from the valley of Ounila through the valley of Tassaout, visiting its rustic villages of rammed earth houses and shepherds huts and crossing the magic Tamda lake.


Day 1:

 Arrival in Marrakech

  included : transfer from airport

Day 2: At Tizi n’Tichka, transfer by minibus to Anmiter (1750m) where you meet with a team of muleteers. You walk to the village of Tighza (2000m) and camp overnight. (3 hour drive, 2 hour trek)
Day 3: You cross the valley of flowers (Ounila) to the high pastures of Anfargal on the way to the camp at Lake Tamda (2667m). (4-5 hour trek)
Day 4: You start the walk crossing the left side of the lake then climb the pass of Tamda (2800m) for a panoramic view of the Mgoun Ouarzazate and the Jebel Saghro. You then descend to Tawjda and camp overnight. (5 to 6 hour trek)
Day 5: You cross the territory of nomadic herdsmen on a path through Geneper tree forests at the bottom of a small valley. Cross the pass of Megdaz (2400m) and its village, one of the most beautiful in the High Atlas, and reach Ait ali n’itto and camp overnight. (6 hour trek)
Day 6:

You descend to the river and visit the Tessaout villages Fakhour and Ifoulou that feature local architecture of rammed earth houses and coloured barns. Stay overnight in a Gite. (5 hour trek)

Day 7: Drive back to Marrakech via Demnat and its beautiful bridge in Imi n’ifri.
Day 8: Depart from hotel
